The rise of reception studies in classics has been one of the key trends of the twenty-first century. This talk looks at some of the key developments and the various methodological streams that have converged in the general area of classical reception.
Stephen Harrison is Professor of Latin Literature and Fellow of Corpus Christi College. His main research and teaching interests are in Latin literature and its reception. He has written books on Virgil, Horace and on the Roman novelist Apuleius, and has edited, co-edited or co-authored more than twenty books on Virgil, Horace, the Roman novel, classics and literary theory and Latin literature in general, and on the reception of classical literature.
