Excursions, events, and cultural activities
In addition to conference papers and plenary lectures, a variety of events, cultural activities and excursions has been organised. Please note that some events and activities need to be booked in advance via the links below.
- Saving Ancient Treasures for the World – Wednesday 3 July 2019, all day, Beveridge Hall, Senate House (free)
One-day conference organised by the Hellenic and Roman Societies. Delegates who are in London on the 3rd of July are very welcome to attend.

A two-hour session when all poster presenters will be beside their posters in the Drama Studio, Institute of Education. Delegates are welcome to discuss content with the presenters and ask questions on the presenters’ work.

Meeting point: 5 minutes before the start of each tour. The guide will be waiting for you by the statue ‘Union: Horse with Two Disks’ near the entrance of the Museum of London.
Nearest station: Barbican (Circle, Hammersmith, Metropolitan) and then follow the signs to the Museum of London.
Further instructions: Delegates should ensure that they have with them adequate walking shoes, water, some food, and a hat. For the Saturday and Sunday walks, there will be very few places to get food and water on the way, as the City of London shuts down at the weekend. The walks will end outside Tower Hill Underground station.

- Guided tour at the British Museum (focus on Greek antiquities) – Sunday 7 July 2019, 13:00-15:00 (free, but places are limited. Please book here, using password FIEC/CA)
Meeting point: 1 pm at the big donation box located in the hall of the British Museum (once you enter the doors of the main façade). Please use the Main Entrance of the Museum on Great Russell Street and allow at least 20 minutes for security checks at the door.
